On the 14th May 2025 Lettings Agents became categorised as Relevant Firms under the UK Financial Sanctions regime. We are now legally required to carry out checks against PEP (Politically Exposed Person) and UK Sanctions lists for all new tenants and landlords before a tenancy can be granted.
We must perform these checks, keep a record of them and promptly report any flagged individuals to the OFSI. If a landlord or tenant is flagged, we cannot proceed with a tenancy.
Landlords with a new tenancy due to start will need to provide the requested information promptly to avoid delaying the tenancy. We use Canopy to perform these checks so please watch for their email.
Tenants are already checked against the PEP and Sanctions list as part of our routine application process.
